2001 Take Back the Night

1. We DEMAND an end to all forms of violence against women. 

2. We DEMAND that 80% of rapists not be excused for their actions simply because they are our friends, our family, and our significant others.

3. We DEMAND that perpetrators of violence be held responsible for their actions and that our legal system enforce that responsibility.

4. We DEMAND safe streets, dorms and houses regardless of our actions or appearance.

5. We DEMAND that NO means NO regardless of race, religion, class, age, or sexual orientation.

6. We DEMAND that men and women take direct action against sexual violence by challenging organizations, institutions, and individuals that perpetuate a rape culture.

7. We DEMAND awareness and sensitivity training for police officers, emergency response staff and the judicial system.

8. We DEMAND that emergency contraception be provided to all survivors of sexual assault regardless of the political or religious views of the healthcare provider.

9. We DEMAND increased funding to sexual assault programs and domestic violence shelters until the day that sexual assault and violence stops.

10. We DEMAND that media outlets devote regular time and space to responsible coverage of violence against women. 

11. We DEMAND that the university recognize sexual assault as a serious crime and take adequate steps to provide awareness among all students, faculty, and staff.
